What is our sawn to size cedar?
Our cut to size Western Red Cedar timber products (also called sawn to size) are literally sawn down to your chosen measurements and come straight off the saw with no machining performed to the edges, unlike our planed all round products.
Cut to size Cedar is ideal if you want to prepare the timber yourself and work down to your finished sizes. Cedar is supplied in nominal thicknesses of 26mm, 32mm, 38mm, 52, 65, 75 and 100mm.
Why is our Western Red so popular?
People love this product because it's suitable for so many purposes such as exterior cladding, greenhouses, sheds, bee-hives, shingles and light construction.
Another couple of reasons why Western Red Cedar is so popular are its appearance and durability. Cedar is provided in a range of different colours from oranges, reds, purples and browns so no two boards are rarely the same. Also, the clear and better grade we supply only contains a small number of knots.
The durability of the wood is exceptional, and, it has very little water movement even when left outdoors. This means that you do not necessarily need to treat your cedar even if you use it externally, although, it will go silver grey over time without UV protection.
The wood however is acidic and tends to corrode ferrous metals - protective coatings should be applied to metal fittings and fixings.
Why choose our Western Red Cedar?
At iWood we understand how important it is to supply our customers with the highest quality products. We always ensure that we provide you with the greatest percentage of usable western red cedar for your needs. We acquire our woods from only the finest sawmills in the UK and from direct importers and deliver the highest quality woods to our customers.
