Planed All Round Douglas Fir C24 Internal Joists
For exposed joists C24 Douglas Fir Joists are our go to suggestion due to their high quality finish, class 3 durability and unique eyecatching grain texture. Joists are planed smooth and kiln dried to a stable moisture content, minimizing moisture movement.
Canadian Douglas Fir is imported into the UK in 'Clear & Better' grade which is shorthand for 85/15 Clear and Better grade. What does 85/15 Clear and Better grade mean? It means 85% of the boards in a pack will be No.2 grade (the highest grade available and the least defects) and 15% of the boards will be No.4 grade which is still a high joinery grade but allows a small amount of visual character. This is an appearance grade. Our C24 Douglas Fir joists must meet a strict strength grade criteria and boards will be very clean with only a small amount of character.
iWood Kiln Dried Douglas Fir C24 Joists are available in 50mm x 150mm, 50mm x 200mm, 50 x 175mm and 50mm x 250mm ex sizes, and up to 4.8m in length.
When to use C24 Douglas Fir Joists
C24 Douglas Fir is best used when there is a structural requirement internally but it will be seen so you would use something more aesthetic than C24 European softwood or C24 treated softwood which are used primarily for their utility.
