Select and Better Southern Yellow Pine Planed All Round
Southern Yellow Pine is a slightly durable softwood which ranges in colour from creamy-white to a light straw and even a light red colour. Some of the common uses of Southern Yellow Pine are joinery, light construction, boxes and crates.
Supplied in the clear and better grade, planed Southern Yellow Pine is a quality, aesthetically pleasing timber. As a less durable softwood than some of the available hardwoods Pine is often a cost effective timber for use in interior joinery where more durable woods aren’t required such as for furniture and cabinets.
Planed Southern Yellow Pine is supplied to your exact requirements, so, when working out prices for your order please enter your exact cutting list with the finished sizes. All of our planed wood is supplied ready for you to work with and the planks are usually slightly over length to be cut down on site.
At iWood Timber Merchants we have built our reputation on supplying quality timber, ensuring you have the greatest amount of usable Southern Yellow Pine timber possible from your iWood delivery.
The Southern Yellow Pine Trees
Distributed across Southern America, from Virginia through to Florida and Texas and carrying on along the coasts of the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico, Southern Yellow Pine is actually a mix of four pine species:
- Shortleaf Pine
- Slash Pine
- Longleaf Pine
- Loblolly Pine
Loblolly pine is the most commonly used and is currently the second most common tree species in the USA after Red Maple.
On average the trees grow to 30m tall and their trunks are around 0.75m wide. Pines excel in sandy soil which drains well where they can get full sunlight. They grow more poorly in heavier soil.

Clear & Better
Clear & Better Southern Yellow Pine Planed All Round from iWood Timber
Our timber is imported straight from sawmills on the continent. Our usual lead times are therefore 20 to 30 working days.
Delivery cost varies by location. Please click here to open our delivery cost page in a new window.
Our delivery lorries visit different parts of the country on different days, so once your order is ready we will work with you to arrange a delivery day for when one of our lorries is in your area. We will always arrange the delivery day in advance with you.
We deliver weekdays Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am to 5pm. Our delivery vehicles will have multiple jobs on them which can affect the delivery time to you, depending on factors such as traffic and how long it takes to offload the previous jobs. The driver will call you in advance with an estimated time of arrival to make sure you'll be there.
Aside from delivery locations that are priced on application, your delivery will be provided with means of offloading from the truck. This may be by HIAB (lorry with a crane arm), or by supplied manpower. The method will be determined by the haulage company we use based on your location and available options at the time. Please note, both offload options will drop your order to the side of the lorry, they won't be able to carry it around the back of a property, for example.
For areas that are priced on application, by default, we will quote for delivery on a flat-bed lorry that you'll need to arrange to offload yourself. We can quote for offloading on request, but to these areas it's usually prohibitively expensive, and cheaper for you to hire a forklift, or arrange to have enough people on-site to offload.
The ordering process
After placing your order securely online you receive an email confirming the items you have ordered. When your order has arrived at iWood HQ and is ready for dispatch, we will give you a call to arrange delivery.
