FAS American Black Walnut Timber (Planed All Round)
Black Walnut is a temperate hardwood which varies in colour from a rich chocolate-brown to a purplish-black. The timber is easily worked which makes walnut timber of particular use to craftsman for making furniture, cabinets, gun stocks and instruments. The attractive colour and grain of the wood also makes it highly sort after.
The FAS grade we supply Walnut timber in is high quality, so you get the best finish for what you are using the timber for. American Black Walnut is easy to work with and takes a finish well, which makes it so popular, this allows you to get the finish and look you want for your end product.
Our planed all round black walnut timber is planed along the sides and faces down to finished measurements (when you type in your size above for working out prices make sure you type in the sizes you need). However, the timber is cut to length rather than planed and is usually overlength for you to cut down on site (we don’t provide exact cross cutting).
Due to how prices are worked out please make sure you enter the exact measurements you need even if you are planning on cutting them down. For example, two pieces at 2m long will most likely cost less than 1 piece which is 4m long, so for you to get the best price it is important to enter your exact cutting list.
At iWood Timber Merchants, we have built our reputation on supplying the highest quality timber, ensuring you have the highest amount of usable Black Walnut Timber possible from your delivery.
American Black Walnut Tree
The American Black Walnut tree can stand 30-40m tall and its trunk is around 1.5m in diameter. Distributed across North America and to the East. Walnut is not as plentiful as it once was thanks to land clearing and because its growth is scattered.
Interestingly the roots of the Walnut tree excrete a growth-inhabiting agent into the soil which can prevent other plants and trees from growing near it (It’s thought that this is a natural defence to stop other trees around it from competing for sunlight). It seems that tomato plants and apple trees in particular are affected.

FAS Quality American Black Walnut Planed All Round from iWood Timber
Our timber is imported straight from sawmills on the continent. Our usual lead times are therefore 20 to 30 working days.
Delivery cost varies by location. Please click here to open our delivery cost page in a new window.
Our delivery lorries visit different parts of the country on different days, so once your order is ready we will work with you to arrange a delivery day for when one of our lorries is in your area. We will always arrange the delivery day in advance with you.
We deliver weekdays Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am to 5pm. Our delivery vehicles will have multiple jobs on them which can affect the delivery time to you, depending on factors such as traffic and how long it takes to offload the previous jobs. The driver will call you in advance with an estimated time of arrival to make sure you'll be there.
Aside from delivery locations that are priced on application, your delivery will be provided with means of offloading from the truck. This may be by HIAB (lorry with a crane arm), or by supplied manpower. The method will be determined by the haulage company we use based on your location and available options at the time. Please note, both offload options will drop your order to the side of the lorry, they won't be able to carry it around the back of a property, for example.
For areas that are priced on application, by default, we will quote for delivery on a flat-bed lorry that you'll need to arrange to offload yourself. We can quote for offloading on request, but to these areas it's usually prohibitively expensive, and cheaper for you to hire a forklift, or arrange to have enough people on-site to offload.
The ordering process
