- 14/07/2020 - Everyone at iWood would like to thank you for your continued support during the pandemic.
As more of our customers have started coming back to work we have seen an influx of orders. As such we are currently working to a lead time of 14-28 working days (some products have longer lead times as described in their individual descriptions). We are still following government guidelines to keep our staff and customers safe.
Please note that iWood is a wholesale timber merchant, and because much of our timber is imported to order, we have a minimum order amount of £750 ex VAT (£900 inc VAT).
Sweet Chestnut is one of the few timbers we don’t price online because its availability is constantly changing at the moment.
Please enter your cutting list below and fill out your details so that we can get back to you with a quote.
Please note that if you want rough sawn timber the thickness we quote may be thicker than what you ask for because sawn to size timbers are provided in set thicknesses.
Message / What are you using the Timber for?
Please note we do have a minimum order of £750.00 EX VAT. If this is to be added to an overall order with other timbers please tell us in the message box.
Thanks for your enquiry. One of our sales team will get back to you as soon as possible.
We are wholesale suppliers of cut to size and planed all round Sweet Chestnut. We supply the timber untreated ready for you to work with and then treat however you would like.
Common uses of sweet chestnut timber are:
Cut to Size
The Cut to Size timber we supply is rough sawn to your measurements within a tolerance. This timber is ready for you to work with and shape to your requirements.
Planed All Round
Planed All Round timber has a smooth even finish across the face and edges although the ends will be rough sawn. The boards are all planed to your exact sizes but sometimes you should allow a tolerance of a few mm either way.
Sweet Chestnut can be used as a replacement to Oak for some furniture and turnery projects. The colour of the timber is a yellowish brown and the grain can be either straight or spiralled.
Timbers such as fresh sawn chestnut contain tannin and when in contact with metal cutters can cause a blue stain which goes over time. This appears as a black/blue deposit, variable in intensity that will be gradually washed down by rainfall or you could apply a mixture of water and oxalic acid which when brushed on will be removed instantly.
You can use the form above to send through your enquiry for sweet chestnut to us and one of our sales team will get back to you as soon as possible.
If you would like to add to an existing or ready to place order please leave the order number in the available message box when send our enquiry or add all of the other items you would like to your basket.
