What's happening to European Oak next month?
European August Shutdown
It’s almost that time of year again where our friends across the pond close their doors and shutdown for the month of August.
If you didn’t already know, European manufacturing companies will shut down production throughout August, during which there will be a series of inspections conducted to ensure all machinery is working as intended and all health and safety protocols are adhered to. This is also when machinery is repaired, replaced or installed to minimize impact on production.
What happens to our supply of oak?
We supply a range of European timbers which we import to order. Therefore, our sawmills based on the continent will not be able to process orders throughout August which affects all of the following timber lead times:
You may still purchase beams as normal at their current pricing but they will subject to a lead time up to late September, early October.
This will also impact some Cut to Size and Planed All Round European Oak orders. When buying online please be aware that if the oak you require isn’t available at our warehouse they may be subject to the same lead time as above in September.
If you require oak, it is always best to contact us directly by
