Articles: What are the benefits of Siberian Larch Cladding?

Due to the harsh Siberian environment that the tree is grown in Siberian Larch is one of the most durable timbers we supply and is ideally suited to outdoor use. The wood is stable, so there is minimal movement, and is naturally impervious to infestation and most diseases.

When cladding with Larch you know that it will be able to withstand the winter so you are getting great durability and great value for money. Being one of the cheaper of our imported timbers Siberian Larch looks great and is readily available for your cladding.

We have a wide range of profiles available and we can supply Siberian Larch Cladding as:

  • Tongue and Groove
  • Shiplap
  • Rainshield
  • Feather Edge

The stability of the timber allows it to be machined without being kiln dried which is one of the reasons it is so cost-effective.

The timber will contain knots and is supplied in a sawfalling grade. The colour of the timber is a pale-orangey colour although it will turn silvery grey over time, if left untreated without a UV protection oil. We do recommend that you treat all of our cladding even if you would like the colour to turn, there are sealants available which either do or don’t include the UV protection agent.

Is there a British alternative to Siberian Larch Cladding?

Yes there is, we have our very own British Larch, which is the cheapest cladding we have on offer. Unlike Siberian Larch Cladding, the British timber is available in a fresh sawn merchantable grade and available as Waney Edge cladding as well as the machined and feather edge options.

As we are a grown in Britain accredited we are beginning to sell more and more of our home grown timbers in a bid to increase the sustainability of timber. Larch is a great example of one of our home grown timbers along with British Cedar and is great for cladding and structural use.

We tend to recommend the British Larch for our Charred and Tiga wood cladding as well because they are easy to work with and the charring effect masks the original colour of the wood, so, Larch is the most cost-effective timber for the same remarkable effect you would get with any timber.
