FAS Planed All Round Sapele

Planed all round graphic

The characteristics of Sapele wood include the reddish-brown colour and its regular stripe. This is a naturally durable tropical wood which is often used as a more cost effective and readily available substitute for Mahogany.

Sapele wood has many uses including:

  • Furniture building
  • Cabinet making
  • Boat building
  • Panelling
  • Flooring
  • Joinery

Like all tropical timbers Sapele is good to use in marine environments and its durability is well documented. Although it can be tough to work with, the results will be worth it and it takes a finish well. This makes it a good choice for use on boats (both externally and internally) when making cabinets, frames and rails.

iWood’s planed all round sapele is supplied in FAS quality timber so that you get the most out of the wood. FAS is the highest grade we can get imported of Sapele Wood and offers you the best available timber to work with.

The timber is delivered planed along all four long sides and sawn to size on the ends so that it is ready for you to use. We plane down to the sizes specified in your cutting list so please make sure you enter your finished sizes.

The length of the wood is usually left over length for you to cut down on site. To get the best value for money enter the lengths you need, don’t order a piece over length to cut down even If it means ordering more pieces. The price of two smaller pieces will be cheaper than one piece the same length (as the two put together).

The Sapele Tree

Sapele is typically found in the tropical regions of West Africa like the Ivory Coast, Ghana and the Cameroons. It is also sometimes known as Sapele Mahogany as it is sometimes used as a replacement for genuine Mahogany. The tree grows to be over 45m tall, and the trunk is around 1-2m wide.

At iWood Timber Merchants, we have built our reputation on supplying the highest quality timber, ensuring you have the greatest amount of usable Sapele timber possible from your delivery.
